Coelogyne fragrans Schltr., from section Speciosae, is an epiphyte found widespread in the lowland and montane forest of New Guinea in mostly shaded positions (100-2700m). This plant is very prolific and very easy to grow; I think it might be happiest when you ignore it! As the name indicates, the flowers have a strong sweet fragrance from a singular inflorescence, produced from new growth several times a year. Only 6 of the 250 known Coelogyne species are native to New Guinea
